You are invited to celebrate the official release of Pauline Jean’s latest CD entitled “NWAYO” at The Baruch Performing Arts Center!

NWAYO (pronounced n-wah-yo) is a Haitian Creole word that refers to the hardest part of the fruit: the nucleus, the center, the core. Therefore, it is fitting that Pauline Jean chose it as the title of her latest release. NWAYO is laden with intricate rhythms and rich textures and showcases a diverse repertoire that is not often captured in a single recording. Through her vivid compositions and arrangements, the project passionately reveals Jean’s personal narrative and explores the fusion between tradition and modernity by blending jazz inferences with Haitian rhythms and tonalities. Her velvety alto is gently woven throughout the recording, creating a powerful sense of emotion and liberation that is palpable and transcends any language barriers.
